Who We Are

Women of Purity was established in 2020. During the height of the pandemic, Mrs Smangele Gumede finally decided to heed the call to establish a space that would be sacred, safe and family centered to support women in their journeys to heal and be their best selves.

Mrs Gumede is a wife, a mother, a sister, a grandmother and mostly a daughter of The Most High God. She is a resigned nurse and a business woman. She then decided to extend her hands to work hand in hand with other women in order for her vision to be established, hence the Ethiopian Proverb that says: "When spiders unite, they can tie down a lion"

ABOUT US

Women of Purity is a faith based non profit organisation. It is not a political organisation and does not promote any church or denomination. It is a spiritually grounded organisation that promote unity, peace and good relationship within the home. It supports the building of strong and healthy families and marriages. Women of Purity focuses on all areas of human development. This includes spiritual development, intellectual/mental development, physical and social development.

WOP is comprised of passionate women who want to live the world better than they found it and positively influence the next generations. To uplift the hand that hands down, offer a listening ear, strengthen the feeble knees and empower women to change their own lives by developing themselves first, spiritually, physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially.

OUR MISSION

Our mission includes but is not limited to:

  • Helping women know who they are
  • Accept who they are
  • Love who they are
  • Know the various contributions they can each make in bettering their lives and communities at large

In doing this WOP offers seminars and focus groups. WOP refer women to professionals (psychologists, social workers, lawyers e.t.c) for more in-depth help. WOP has skilled development work in order to help women provide for their needs. WOP feeds those who find themselves on the streets. WOP even make food parcels to those who have no food. WOP hold financial education sessions that help women budget and use wisely any money they do have.
